English Vinglish, one of the projects of Chandraprabha Trust (CPT), began its journey in 2022 by teaching a group of enthusiastic students from Powai English School. Inspired by the transformative power of language, we formally incorporated it in 2023 with a clear mission: to make English a tool for empowerment and change.Our aim and motive are to build confidence and eliminate fear of the English language. This is done with a unique methodology that fills the classroom with laughter, learning, and confidence-building. We strongly believe that every child has the right to the best and most holistic education.We always look at the children as children, not as “the under-privileged". We do not compromise with the method and therefore focus on all the aspects of learning the language like a native speaker.

A Story of Language, Confidence, and Growth
Every movement begins with a single step, and ours began with children, who were wide-eyed and often unsure of their voice in English. What started as small classrooms has grown into a living, breathing journey of impact and collaboration!

Phase One: Building Strong Foundations

Our earliest work focused on creating safe, engaging spaces where learners could step into English with joy rather than fear. At Powai English School, more than 300 children discovered that grammar could be playful, not rigid; that confidence grows when curiosity is encouraged; and that English is not just a subject but a tool for self-expression.
At Satkaram NGO, 30 learners began this journey with us. They laughed through word games, practised conversations, and built courage in ways that spilled beyond the classroom. These beginnings taught us that even small groups can make a big change.

Phase Two: Growing Through Collaboration

Growth rarely happens alone, reather it thrives in community. Partnering with LCCWA NGO, we introduced weekly classes that transformed learning into a rhythm, not a once-in-a-while event. As commitment deepened, participation at Satkaram NGO doubled, rising from 30 to over 60 enthusiastic learners.
But impact is never one-dimensional. Alongside direct student engagement, we recognised the multiplier effect of teachers. That’s why we launched training programs to equip village educators with tools, confidence, and strategies that would echo across generations of learners.
Workshops became another pillar. Two large-scale interactive sessions brought NGOs together, sparking dialogue, sharing practices, and reminding us that collective energy always outshines isolated effort.

Phase Three: Expanding Horizons

The journey is far from complete; it keeps unfolding with every new vision. Our path now points toward scaling, dreaming, and widening the circle of impact.Partnering with Vision-Aligned Organisations: We continue to seek collaborations that expand reach, ensuring more individuals can experience the transformative power of English.Expanding into Schools Across Mumbai: With 1,254 municipal schools run by the MCGM, the potential for change is monumental. Imagine thousands of children walking into classrooms not just to learn English but to use it as a key to bigger dreams.Launching English Classes for Adults: Because learning doesn’t have an expiry date. Adults too deserve the chance to grow, to access better careers, and to feel the confidence of self-expression in English.Strengthening Teacher Training: We see educators as the roots of this tree of change. By investing in their growth, we ensure that every branch: every student, thrives. This is sustainability in action.

Our story is not bound by dates on a calendar but by milestones of change. From a handful of children to hundreds of learners, from one NGO to many, from classrooms to city-wide schools; the journey continues to grow. And with every new learner, teacher, and partner, the circle of impact widens.
